Memory Verse “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, - TopicsExpress

Memory Verse “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister.” Colossians 1:23 What had been preached? “The _____________, which ye have heard, and which was preached.” The gospel had been preached to which people? “The gospel, which _________have heard, and which was preached to _____________ creature.” I read fourteen commentaries on this verse along with other notes in Bibles and Bible history books this week, and I was surprised that none would set forth the possibility that the gospel had been preached to every creature with any certainty. I have read all of the rationalizations, but I just wonder what is so hard to believe or understand when God says that the gospel had been preached to every creature under heaven. What is so hard to understand about the word “every”? In view of the fact that the remains of several ancient Phoenician settlements have been found in both North and South America, the striking similarities of the middle eastern ziggurats with those in the Americas, and the repeated references to the ships of Tarshish, the land of the eastern coastline, and to Chittim, why would it be so hard to believe that the great sailors of Phoenicia would take one of the apostles to one of their outposts in Tarshish or Chittim? What is even more convincing, if Philip could be transported from Samaria to the desert to reach one man, couldn’t God figure out a way to reach the Americas?
