Memory down the lane. My father Late.V.Narayanan joined Indian overseas Bank in 1940s after a brief stint at Nedungadi Bank. He was the opening Manager of our Kochi branch. He was the Madras Presidency(At that time all Kerala colleges were under this) Volley ball player also. Due to his expertise in Foreign Exchange he was inducted to F.E dept at Head Office, which was at that time functioning in Clive building(Old building) Soon he became an authority in Foreign Exchange and underwent special training at RBI. Immediately he was posted as Sub-Manager of Our Colombo opening branch along with Shri.R.A.Rao as Manager. Within a year our Colombo branch had earned good profit and my father was instrumental for purchasing our own building at Colombo. At that time Ceylon was under the colonial rule of British. After R.A.Rao, my father was elevated to Manager and was there for 13 years continuously. During this period he acclaimed fame in Colombo. He was appointed as honorary Jury of Colombo High Court for three years, especially to examine the cases of Economic Offences. He used to be the special invitee for any function like Indian Celebritys visit, including Babu Rajendraprasads Visit. When I was 9 years old, my father was transferred to Madurai to Head and establish, Development Office(south) covering entire south Tamilnadu, kerala and Goa. But before joining he was down with stroke and died after 1 year, when I was 10 years old. I still keep this photo taken during the Visit of the Nephew our Founder Chairman, and board of Director of our Bank to Colombo.
