Men Sta Ana comments on Walden Bellos call on President Aquino to dismiss Secretaries Abad and de los Reyes. While I have reservations about DAP (not the policy or even the political motivations around it but because I do not think it was crafted and implemented with proper legal due diligence), I do not agree also with the call of Walden. As I have said before, knowing Secretary Abad very well, I trust him enough to decide when it is the right time to leave the government. And as for Secretary de los Reyes, I also do not agree with his removal. I think he is getting a bum rap just because he became agrarian reform secretary at this time when it has become much more challenging to implement the agrarian reform law. Having said this, I am still supportive of Rep. Bello being outspoken on matters of great importance. Political courage is a rare characteristic nowadays and it should be encouraged.
