Men are often willing to lay down their life for those in their family. It is a commendable trait, yet it is a small sacrifice when compare to laying down their life of wants and needs by putting the needs of their wife and children first before their own needs and aspirations. Their will be those who will criticize my comment, and I say it after a discussion with my wife this afternoon and taking a hard look at my life. God gives men several scriptures which model putting their needs after those who they are suppose to love, We are suppose to raise our children in the fear of the lord, to love our neighbor as our selves, to love our wives, as Christ loved the church. Laying down our own pursuits for those God calls us to, sometime what he has put in our hearts matches up with our calling. So as a man do you seek God first so that all other things will be added to your life? Do you love your wife as Christ loves the church? Do you raise your children in the knowledge of the lord? We can teach the word, but do we live it as an example to our wife, children, parents, friends, neighbors? Do we live IT? I have fallen negligently short, yet by Gods great mercy and grace I have the remainder of today and if given tomorrow, then tomorrow to live it!
