Mendocino Skunks: The California Western Railroad (CWR, popularly known as the Skunk Train) offers a 40-mile (64km) train ride through the redwood forests of northern California from Fort Bragg to Willits in Mendocino County. Here we see CWR 2-8-2 steam loco No.45 and GP-9 diesel No.64 crossing at the coastal town of Fort Bragg, California. CWR 2-8-2 No.45 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1924 (works no.58045), purchased from the Brownley Lumber Company in 1964, it operated until 2001, then restored again in 2001-2003, and in regular operation since that time. EMD GP-9 No.64 was former Southern Pacific No.3411, acquired in 1987, and is in regular service. More here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Western_Railroad Thanks Eric Mencis. -Phil
