Menendez to Demand FEMA Fix, Investigation into Sandy Victims’ Flood Insurance Bait and Switch NEWARK, N.J. – TOMORROW, November 14, 2014, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez will stand with New Jersey homeowners and their representatives to call on the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) to take immediate action to address potential widespread manipulation of flood insurance claims in order to lowball Sandy victims. Earlier this week, a federal judge in New York found that flood insurance providers have engaged in a pervasive practice of tasking firms to issue “baseless report[s]” in order to reduce the amount of money provided to policyholders. The Senator will be joined by the lead plaintiff attorney, who also represents several hundred New Jersey Sandy victims in similar actions.
