Mental Health should be a hot topic; however we seem to shy away - TopicsExpress

Mental Health should be a hot topic; however we seem to shy away from it as if it was kryptonite and we being superman. Ive had many conversations with experts on this subject, and they deem being embarrassed, as the number one reason that people want seek help. As my brother Kenny Hardin stated earlier in a post, to all of the other people that are smiling behind the pain, depression is real and we need to stop minimizing it and waving it off as someones just a little down. The next Think Tank will be held a Blue Bay on East Innes Street Aug 24th and 4pm. The topic, HEALTH CARE. It will specifically deal with Mental Illness, Health Concerns and Health Access challenges, Weight Management as well Youth behavioral concerns. Our community continues to avoid any conversations concerning the above. Just as the Think Tank has aggressively tackled multiple issues of the COMMUNITY AT LARGE, this is a conversation that has to be had. The presenters are: Tammy Ford, RN, MHA Rural Health Nurse Educator, and Mr. Ronnie Glover, Case Manager for Veterans in the MHICM (Mental Health Intensive Case Management) program. MHICM is designed to help chronically mentally ill Veterans to remain out of the hospital. He also has expertise as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Nazareth Childrens Home. The wealth of knowledge held by these (2) two individuals cant be bought. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, Hand outs will be available and there will be a question/answer opportunity. Looking forward to seeing you on the 24th.
