Mental health problems continuously wrecking havoc in Cambodia. According to a recent article the problem lies in the hardship of day to day life in the country. “It is a big problem here. They struggle and it’s stressful, and that leads to all sorts of mental problems that people can’t cope with,” says Thida head of the mental health department at Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital. Khmer Rouge victims are rated high is suffering from Anxiety, depression, PTSD and suicide. Studies show children of mentally ill parents are likely to develop syndromes which means there could be generations of mental illness all stemming from the Khmer Rouge genocide.
