Mentally ill, work, unemployment, productivity and economics: Not all mentally patients are completely incapable of things like reading, walking, eating and drinking, and conversing etc. A fair number of mentally ill persons can be productive sometimes, can function sometimes, but they cannot function well all the time. A permanent job, whether part-time or full-time, a contractors contract, a sub-contract contract, cannot be easily managed for a mentally ill person which will be able to work some of the time but certainly not at other times.
