Meowy-Wowy....KITTEN SIGHTING #2!!! :-) When my son went out to feed Scooter this evening, he was surprised by 4 or 5 kittens scurrying back through the lattice and under the safe, deep recesses of the back deck of our pool! Wow! Scooter is a good Mommy to keep that many wild kitties safe and secure, even with her sideways head thingy. And they look old enough to me to begin to eat solid food. SO...the plan is this: Im afraid to try and catch the kittens in the cat trap for fear of injuring them. So instead, I am going to buy a large clear storage tub with a lid, invert it upside down in the yard, and prop up the lid (actually the tub bottom) with a stick with a length of fishing line tied to it. If we can get the kittens used to eating solid food, we can perhaps entice them into the box to eat, and drop the lid, capturing them - hopefully when Mom is away. Then, we can hopefully catch her in the cat trap again (I dunno - shes a smart cat!) and have her fixed before she gets pregnant again. I guess I will have to keep the kittens on the back porch to try and socialize them so that we can hopefully find them homes. Mommy probably cant be directly WITH them after being fixed because they will probably try to nurse and that may injure her, but I do have a large animal crate she can be in on the porch and be close to them still. Hate to separate them even THIS much but I dont know how else to do it. SO...thats the plan, Stan. ;-) Any suggestions? Anybuddy want a kitten? :-D They looked like solid blacks and tabbies, sort of like THIS...so cute! And the trap would be something like THIS, but with a plastic tub with a lid we can snap on and gently roll over, securing kittens to be transported to back porch! Operation CAT TRAP: Phase 1: Get kittens to enjoy solid food..... ;-)
