Merced County Supervisor John Pedrozo has hired a new assistant, - TopicsExpress

Merced County Supervisor John Pedrozo has hired a new assistant, seven months after the controversial departure of his former aide. Pedrozo hired Grethel Croasdale as an “extra help administrative assistant” on Sept. 8, county spokesman Mike North confirmed. Croasdale will be paid $13 per hour and will work no more than 20 hours per week. The salaries for Board of Supervisors’ personal assistants are paid through each supervisor’s discretionary funds, a $40,000 yearly allotment of taxpayer dollars to fund projects in their districts. Croasdale had to provide the county with her driving record. Officials said it will be monitored through a state Department of Motor Vehicles program. Other personal assistants who drive county vehicles will likely face the same scrutiny, a change in policy following incidents with Pedrozo’s former aide.
