Mercy Jack: Handsome Jimmy Valiant: If anyone gave Jerry Lawler a run for his money for the title of “King of Memphis” during the late seventies, it was my man Handsome Jimmy Valiant. The “Boy from New York City” had it all, arms the sizes of oak trees, untold volumes of flowing blonde hair and enough testosterone-fueled attitude to fill the whole of the Mid-South Coliseum. He rode around Memphis, shirtless and as big as shit on his Harley-Davidson. When he entered a club, all eyes focused on him. Valiant was a bronze god with a knockout stripper on each arm and one seated atop his massive shoulders. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the chance to work with him early in my professional wrestling career. In my 50 or so years of being either a fan or wrestler, I can honestly state that is the absolute best wrestling promo video of all time.
