Meredith OConnor says: Hey, I wanted to share the story of my Bengal cat - my best friend who I got on Christmas at age 4, best day of my life, to help other families know how much of an impact a pet can have of a child growing up. He was my life savior. So I knew this day would come for quite some time now, but that didnt make me at all prepared and those who knew me know how attached I am to him. Today I lost a best friend and family member of 15 years, my fatguy, or Stripes. I have had such an attachment to him that I didnt just lose him, I feel like I lost a part of myself. FYI that is him in this video, I didnt choose it to show how hyper active I was as a kid- but to show how he just sat there on the trampoline and let me pick him up, as crazy as I must have seemed he knew I loved him more then life itself and would never hurt him, and in turn he never hurt me. All 15 years of my friends and I dressing him up, thinking we were giving him an awesome day at a homemade amusement park, he never got upset because he knew the love I had for him. When people left me he stayed by my side. He was the closest thing I have that resembles my childhood. Now as Im slowly leaving it it really breaks my heart to say goodbye, and I havent ever felt this kind of pain before, not with other pets being put to sleep or even people, because of how much he was there for me- but I love you Stripes, or Fatguy, thank you for being the best friend I could ever ask for.
