Meredith cancer update: Had a meeting with Dr Hew, the medical oncologist this past Tuesday. He said there were no tumor markers in the blood work, so there a good chance its localized. Today we met with Dr Bradley, radiation oncologist. She explained the benefits of radiation therapy (hereafter referred to as RT), as well as the procedure. Right now were looking at 6 to 8 weeks of RT, 30 minute sessions every weekday. This will be further refined after a PET Scan and this coming Tuesdays appointment with the surgeon. Were hoping to have surgery prior to RT, as it will reduce the required dosage. That will depend on if the surgeon feels they can remove a large portion of the cancer. Its located on top of her sternum, so we will have to see what the PET Scan shows first. More details to come.
