(EA) has been awarded LEED Gold certification for Commercial Interiors by the U.S. Green Building Council. Located at 225 Schilling Circle in Hunt Valley, EA’s new corporate headquarters occupies two floors of Schilling Green II, a LEED Platinum office building completed by Merritt last year. Merritt utilized a number of green design and construction strategies to assist EA in achieving LEED Gold certification for their space: · 84% of all construction waste was recycled · Underfloor air distribution system offering more efficient delivery of fresh air to the breathing zone and individual occupant control throughout the building · Stringent indoor quality management program implemented throughout the construction process · 87% of lighting controls have occupancy sensors, providing 13% in lighting savings · 37% water use reduction with water-efficient restroom fixtures · 26% energy savings in HVAC through use of efficient systems · Green power credits purchased for 100% of energy use for two years · Use of all low-VOC products for interior finishes, such as flooring, paints and sealants · Green housekeeping reduces the possibility of indoor air pollutants that are potentially odorous and irritating to building occupants. EA has also implemented a recycling program, utilized Energy Star-rated equipment for more than 80% of all of their office equipment and installed low-mercury lighting.
