Merry Christmas 12 Step Program Step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. Celebrate Recovery Principal 3: Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christs care and control. Yesterday was a particularly wonderful day. In our 12 Step Program we leave it up to people, as in Step 3, to chose a God of their understanding. In Celebrate Recovery, God is understood as Jesus Christ. I know by now I have lost the contempt prior to investigation crowd. Nevertheless, let me forge on. I have been working with a young man for some time who views Christ as his Higher Power (as do I). This young man had spent the two previous Christmass locked up in jail. Early in the day, he and I went over Step 3, as I would anyone in the 12 Step Program. Being he was more specific in his understanding of who his God was, Jesus Christ, we did Principle 3. After much discussion, he answered the following 4 questions with a yes. 1. Do I... Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for me and showed He was God by coming back to life? (1 Corinthians 15:2-4) 2. Do I... Accept Gods free forgiveness for my sins? (Romans3:22) 3. Do I... Switch to Gods plan for my life? (Mark 1:16-18; Romans 12:2) 4. Do I... Express my desire to Christ to be the director of my life? (Romans 10:9) We then went to an AA meeting and had plans to meet at Saddleback Church to attend the evening service. He was there with his parents and I with my family. Unbeknownst to his parents and grandmother, he planned to be Baptised after the service. Needless to say, they were shocked and reduced to tears over the surrender. There is no higher order that I can think of than to be a part of someone coming to the Lord, and their is no greater gift to a parent or our Father in Heaven to commit to a resurrected relationship. In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success. (Proverbs 3:6) May you all immerse yourself in the Love of the Lord and your family today. God Bless.
