Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and Happy Holidays to all my friends and family! I hope everyone is enjoying their time with their friends and loved ones! Unfortunately I find myself in the hospital after a very complicated surgery again. This time I underwent the knife with Dr Todd Stuart MD who has had a long career at Barnes and is now at MoBap. His experience has been in correcting spinal surgeries that are failures and he has had fairly high success rates doing so. So far, Im 6 days out and Im glad to say the right sciatica that has been debilitating for 2 years nonstop IS GONE! I do have some pain there after walking 5 minutes or so but so much better than before. The sciatica on the left is about 50% better but the nerve roots to that side were literally smashed for sometime and I think it will take time to recover but all affected nerve roots L5 and S1 bilaterally are TOTALLY decompressed and for the first time in 2 years I can sit upright for up to 15 to 20 minutes and getting better. The fusion that was broken at several levels and was popping constantly is now solid and knock on wood I hope the cracking of the screws will not come back. My last problem before going to a rehab hospital must be the drying up of the wound drainage of the last 6 days and Im happy to say the dressing this morning is less than 1/2 saturated for the first time and is going to subside I feel in the next day or so. I really have a shot at this, even if its just using a walker so as soon as the drainage stops Im off to the Rehab Institute at Barnes and hopefully will recover quickly. I have to publicly thank God also for answering your prayers to this point and thanks to all of you. I cant wait to go traveling soon! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
