Merry Christmas, everyone! To all who so generously contributed to the card project, I have run out of ways to thank you. I am also gratified--thrilled, really--at the way this has inspired other ideas for paying it forward. My mom was gone for Christmas eve, and now is locked out of the mail room, so well need to wait for a final tally and photo. But as far as Im concerned, the goal was met when the first person said to themselves, Hmmm, I think Ill do something really nice for someone I never met. I have just removed the turkey for the oven. Its a wonder theres any stuffing left in there because every time I opened the oven door to check on the bird I gobbled some up. In a few minutes, Ill take the pecan pie out of the oven. The sky has taken on that faded quality of near dusk, and another Christmas is almost gone. Ill be especially sad to see this one go. On the radio, theyre singing Gloooooriah.... Must rush down to listen to it with my eyes shut. Also must make sure the dogs arent eating the turkey like in A Christmas Story.
