Merry Christmas folks. Enjoy the time you have with the people you love. There seems to be less and less of it as life happens. Coming to see my family after so long has given me great joy, Ive truly missed being able to see them. My heart breaks for those I would give anything to simply speak to, that have nothing but hate for me. But I just cant participate in that; I can only keep smiling and offering my hand, which seems to only cause more hate. Sometimes I wonder why I cant just play along, because the truth is, it is so much easier to throw people away and just forget them. But Im always reminded of 1 John 4 at verse 20..... If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. You know, Ive met so many nice and good people that are eaten up with hate. And many of them dont even know they have it... people seem to think hate must involve anger and evil deeds. No, hate is as simple as saying... I forgive you, but we just cant be friends. And if you cant see the lie and total hypocrisy in that statement, youre blind my friend and have not yet found the understanding to truly love your fellow human/neighbor, and yes, you have hate. I want to tell you this morning, from experience, if you live like that, and say things like that to people; youre not helping, youre not doing good and you are hurting others. I only hope they dont participate with you and return the hate; because no one deserves to feel hate or be hurt by it. And I hope if youve just figured out- if youre possibly being hateful towards others, that today is a good day to pick up the phone, answer that message, reply to that email, or initiate dialogue with someone that you might be causing pain. We can all get along, but no one ever said it was going to be easy. Finding true friends, honest love, and genuine fellowship is not easy and that Sunday morning howdy isnt it. Sorry, but youre going to have to swallow the pride, take responsibility for your mistakes, admit you might be as guilty as everyone else, actually DO the work to hold up your end, and especially.. stop worrying about what people might think...... and just let go of the hate. Because, I can also tell you from experience... Its the most satisfying feeling of freedom and happiness youll ever find. Merry Christmas, and may God bless you beyond measure.
