Merry Christmas to All. The best gift you can give a child is the gift of words. For it is the amount of words that has accumulated in the first three years of life that can make a huge difference in intelligence and educational achievement. One reason why most children of professional parents are doing much better than those from the poor families is the number of words heard by a child during the first three years of life. Professional parents talk at about 2100 words per hour (35 words per minute), while those from poor families 600 words. That is a 1500 more words in an hour. In a year, the difference is nearly 8 million words, and by age four, it is a total gap of 32 million words. If you are waiting for the school system to help your child, it is too late for best performance. Early education should begin during infancy. Although there is always hope because the brain is a malleable tissue and proper environment can still make a big catch-up depending on the teacher and parents.
