Merthyns Musings: 23rd January 2014. Church (I do not mean a building or denomination here) truly born again believers, should be a catalyst and prophetic witness for peace and justice in our sphere of influence and communities. We should be an example and a force for positive change a society of true believers within society. We should seek unity & solidarity with the poor and the marginalized of this world. Father called us to a fast, in Isaiah 58 we see what He expects from us His church, His people: (Message Translation) 6-9 “This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families. Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’ The gospel of Jesus was, is, the good news of the kingdom of God, we see it clearly illustrated in the Lords prayer, here we see a vision of Gods kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. It is Fathers desire to have His Kingdom here on earth to replicate His Kingdom in Heaven. There has never been a problem with the Kingdom of Heaven, the problem has always been here on earth, but it is His will & desires to see His Children, heirs of His kingdom, replicate the Kingdom of Heaven. I believe He has chosen to do this through His body the Church, but we have turned His Church into a religion He did not design, and an institution not of His making, we have stopped being “Living Stones”, and have become mausoleum full of dead mens bones of religion, tradition & ideologies, and are no better than white washed sepulchers, having all the theology and doctrines, a form of Godliness with out the power, without the “Life” of the Word & Spirit of God, living & pulsating within us & our gatherings. We have exchanged attending church, for being the “Church”. We go to church to be entertained and make ourselves feel good, and then go away without a regard for those around us or in our communities. We have nothing in common with our so called brothers and sisters in God and do our own thing, never for a moment allowing the Holy Spirit to move in us or motivate us out of love and compassion for Gods family to reach out to them in case it may cost us something, not realizing that it is costing us everything by not doing so. Jesus’ message was to live positively and compassionately in the midst of our communities and society. His vision was to raise up not only ourselves, but those around us as well. His way was and is a way of shalom. It is a way to live a fully authentic and dynamic life in God amongst the stones, slings, arrows, the joys, sorrows and pain of this world. The message from Jeremiah 29:5-7 remains true today: (NKJV) 5 Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. 6 Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters—that you may be increased there, and not diminished. 7 And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. May we be the Church, The Bride of Christ, carrying and displaying His Shalom, His Love, His Grace. May His Kingdom increase & His rule know no end. It is time to step out of religion into His marvelous light and freedom of His Kingdom. God Bless.
