Meru An audiovisual, interactive maquette, commisioned by the International Childrens Film Festival in Brussels, whereby your movements are detected and translated in a realtime musical composition, so you can influence the atmosphere of the scene. The pyramid translates your motion in kaleidoscopic representations, that never repeat the same image. So it becomes sort of a perpetuum mobile. This installation aims to stimulate physical interaction between the artwork itself and spectator to create a deeper perception and motivation for the spectator to participate. Theres a legend connected to the pyramid: Somewhere deep in the Amazon rainforest of Peru, lies hidden a mysterious pyramid that absorbs all negative forces in the world … The local tribes who honour the pyramid call it Meru, God of the Light. Quite a few western expeditions have tried to unravel and conquer this mystery, but no one has ever returned alive! The participating child acts as in charge of the forces of the pyramid, so it gives them the feeling they are in charge themselves to absorb the negative forces surrounding them. This is an indirect boost of selfreliability of the child. There is a lot more to discover, but I will mention only one more thing: pay attention to the miniature people. Youll recognize Erwin Rommel, the notorious field marchal of the Deutsches Afrikakorps who fought in Northern Africa during WOII. Implicitely the maquette is an anti-war pamflet, in that the expedition is represented as soldiers of the Nazi regime, who are confronted by the energetic pyramid absorbing all bad forces, including greed, the main reason that started their initial quest. _______ FOLLOW LIPSapp Classic Radio _______ FB: r-js/1vz7Pcz / TW: r-js/1kHd2Qt / Listen to LIPSapp Classic Radio r-js/1dOIQ18 #classicrock #rollingstones #ledzeppelin #santana #eagles #zztop #thewho #beatles #elvis #jimihendrix #dylan #acdc #michaeljackson #pinkfloyd #madonna #u2
