Message and Thought for Today: Psalm 23, A God Like That! So many times people in the church, as well as outside the church have the difficulty of understanding who God really is. Those that claim to know Him at times must get the assurance that, Hes the same Yesterday, Today, and Forevermore. Those that have not surrendered to Him remain in a closed mind, trying to figure why we proclaim to know such an awesome God. Im inclined to express how the Psalmist David may have felt when he penned the 23 Psalm. As one tries to gather the greatness of God, its a known fact that one must try to understand who God is. Listen to the Psalmist. 1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. One must take special interests in the shepherd and claim ownership in the relationship, because He may not be other people shepherd, but Hes yours. 2. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. God at times gives His children rest from their weary troubles and He calms the stress of the overflowing and turbulent waters of life. 3. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. At times God gives restoration of the soul, due to the weakness of our faith. 4. Yeah though I walk in the valley of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Everyone loves to walk with God when things are good, pretty, an you can see your way. But, at times God directs us in the valley so we may understand where we came from and who led us out of the dark life of sin. He also grabs us with His rod and staff when weve gone too far and cant see our way back. 5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. God knew that if we surrender to Him and follow His ways, we would have many enemies far and close. Therefore at times He places us at the table to allow them to see our Anointing and No Weapon thats formed wont prosper. And, 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of The Lord Forever. No matter the situations Weve been through, God placed goodness down in the inside. His mercy delivers us when His judgment would declare us guilty. Therefore dwelling in His house is the only safe place. Do you really know who God is? Have you tried Him lately? He will walk with you and talk with You, and Hell be your Shepherd. From the Rev.
