Message for all fellow labradors: Did you know your humans arent telepathic? This has come as a shock to me. You see for about a year now Ive been getting just a little bit slower and sometimes on a morning Im a little bit stiff - especially if Ive had lots of exercise the day before. Can you believe that my human thought it was simply me getting old? Im only 8 for goodness sake! Luckily the vet IS telepathic and when I explained to him that Im actually in a fair bit of pain with the early stages of arthritis, he was able to explain to my human that Im not old at all! Pfttt! In fact I shouldnt be slowing down until Im 12 at least ... maybe even 14. Apparently my human expects me to yelp and whimper like a footballer if Im in pain! As if Im going to behave like that! Im a labrador! I will never show pain, Ill bravely battle through it and not tell a soul. The great news is that because I compete at agility I have fabulous muscle tone and Im beautifully slim. The vet prescribed MORE exercise - yippee! Ive also been given a low dose of anti-inflammatories and soon Ill be bouncing around with as much energy as a young dog ... because I AM a young dog! So the moral of my story is: Labradors - please teach your humans how to communicate telepathically and if they cant then please ask your vet to translate. :-) Old dog at 8 Tsk ... I couldnt believe it!
