Message from Celine Schein Das, wife of Pandit Chitresh Das and Executive Director of the Chitresh Das Dance Company & Chhandam School: Thank you everyone for your outpouring of love and support for the loss of Pandit Chitresh Das--beloved artist, guru, choreographer, composer, husband, father, friend and more. Yesterday we had one of many services taking place around the world in his memory. One thing is clear: we are taking his legacy forward. Classes are about to start, performances will go forward and, together, we will grow the institution and his legacy bigger than even he could ever imagine. We would like to thank all those who joined us at the ceremony held in San Rafael, CA yesterday. In particular I would like to thank Mary Khan, Alam Khan and Manik Khan for attending. 5 1/2 years ago the world lost the great Maestro Ali Akbar Khan and they too have carried on and just recently opened a library on Khansahibs work. We too will carry on, clearer, stronger, more powerful than before. My love goes out to all of you--your love, our common grief and common purpose in going forward gives me tremendous strength, as a wife, as a mother as an executive director and a human being. While we come alone and go alone, as Pandit Chitresh Das always said, while we are here, we can support another and, together, continue to do this incredibly important, powerful and, ultimately joyful, work.
