Message from ITS: RISK: VERY HIGH ALERT: Ive received a number of independent reports that the CBC news, Globe & Mail, iVillage and Possibly the NT Times websites have been infiltrated by Syrian Hackers who have installed Java based malware: cbc.ca/news/technology/syrian-electronic-army-claims-hack-of-news-sites-including-cbc-1.2851962 theglobeandmail/news/national/cbc-other-media-sites-report-hacking-attacks-from-syrian-electronic-army/article21808795/ This malware appears to be attempting to infect computers visiting these sites. This type of attack is called Drive-by download: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive-by_download If you visit any of the sites listed in this alert you could be at RISK. NOTICE: If you visit any of these sites and receive a Java pop-up asking for permission to do something - DO NOT PERMIT IT! Furthermore, work with your local IT group, or ITS Helpdesk, to ensure your version of Java has been updated to the most recent version.
