Message from Interim Superintendent, Dr. Mark Porterie: "Texas Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed October 2013 as “Principals Month” in Texas. In honor of our principals and assistant principals, we are asking you to join us in recognizing the elementary and secondary administrators in our schools. As you know, school leadership is vital to the success of all students. This year’s motto is, “Above All, Students First.” Please join with us during the month of October in recognizing the positive contributions our secondary and elementary school leaders have made on student achievement in our district and inTexas. A copy of the Texas Governor’s “Principal Month” Proclamation is linked to this message for your edification. The key to student success is a great school, and the key to a great school is a great principal leading a great staff. The Port Arthur ISD students and staff would like to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication that each of our principals and assistant principals exemplify. They each give tirelessly of their time and knowledge while serving as a leader, mentor, public relations expert, budget analyst and motivational guru. Principals set the overall academic and environmental feel on their campus. They encourage students to strive to reach their potential, while working with staff to develop the curriculum that will enable the students to succeed. Principals, assistant principals, and the teachers they guide, are entrusted with our most precious resource – our children. Our students will one day oversee our community country’s future and we want the most well-prepared and educated people to be in these positions. We want to congratulate our district principals and assistant principals on the outstanding job they are doing in overseeing and guiding our schools. We encourage citizens to express their gratitude when they see the principal and assistant principal of the school that their child, grandchild, niece or nephew attend. Recognize the exemplary contributions of our elementary, middle and high school principals and assistant principals." #thinkwiththeendinmind
