Message from Jay Esperance, Incident Commander Type 2 Incident - TopicsExpress

Message from Jay Esperance, Incident Commander Type 2 Incident Management Team, Team C Fuels within the Containment Lines June 26, 2013, Evening The smoke seen today was from fuels burning within the containment lines. Most of this burning was from the unburned fuels that I have already mentioned; this was always a risk. There were no adverse effects from this. Our crews also did some burning around a few historical structures to provide added protection. We have a plan to contain the large smokes at the top of the mountain. The Logan Hot Shots cut off fuel continuity preventing that area from spreading out of containment. The Arrowhead Hot Shots have a plan to do the same thing on the west side of the peak tomorrow, but our Incident Meteorologist, Darren Clabo, is forecasting a high probability of dry lightening in that area. If that forecast continues, Arrowhead will put off that mission for a day with more favorable forecasts. Firefighter and public safety is always foremost in our decision making process.
