Message from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe: The Tokyo Olympics - TopicsExpress

Message from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe: The Tokyo Olympics opened fifty years ago today, October 10. The Japanese people greeted this day deeply moved and full of great pride. Today, in the gracious presence of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince, an event was held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Japan has come to once again hold the Olympic and Paralympic Games, in Tokyo. Six years from now, we will send out to the world the message that we have successfully completed our reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and have become revitalized. People used to say that Japan was heading into the twilight. But Japan will undergo a revival as a country active on the world’s center stage. We will make the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games an opportunity to convey to the world the vitality of that kind of Japan. (Originally posted at 22:24, Tuesday, October 10, 2014 in Japanese)
