Message from Sheriff Jerry Jones. Family, Friends, Communities, Law Enforcement, First Responders and Fellow Firefighters, some traveled hundreds of miles came together today to show their respect to the family of fallen firefighter John Derek Gupton. No matter how big or small their department, proper honor was given to a HERO today. Firetrucks and emergency vehicles lines up one after another. Firefighters shoulder to shoulder showing grief for one of their own. Its a brotherhood like no other. We must keep the memory of John Derek Gupton in our hearts. Never forget that the safety we enjoy in our daily life comes with a price. A price that loved ones of those lost in the line of duty know all to well. No greater sacrifice could be made than the one made by the fireman we honored today. I have seen a lot of heartwarming things in my life, but the compassion and care shown for one another today in time of need was amazing, Rest in peace John Derek Gupton. Your brothers will take it from here.
