Message to the Red, Yellow and Green reclamation of Hawaiian Sovereignty movement: I would never presume to speak to the chosen people of Hawaii because I am just a tourist here. And, I would never deign to call their place here evolution, because their sovereignty and innovation was unquestioned by foreign powers world wide, as soon as they - the outsiders - were made aware of this place. And then the darkness came to the islands and undid the enlightened civilization here. We may never understand why. But when I poured the island salt water into my bath tonight, and slipped into it, I heard this clarion call: HAWAII !. It was like the instant my skin touched the water, Israel Israel IZ Kamakawiwo`olei grabbed me by the throat and said, Remember this place! Remember who you are! There has been so much abuse and egoistic gamesmanship happening in my own small section of the planet, vying to steal my power, to usurp or undermine my message in an un-evolved and misbegotten attempt to understand, just like all the usurpers and conquistadors of history. But I have kept my sanity and balance because of the privilege of having been accepted by the Aina, by Pele and her attendants. I know the grace I have been given here is tenuous. I know I am just a tourist. I believe place and time are like currants that draw you to where you where you are meant to exert your own gifts of wisdom, strength and service. I believe the people of Hawaii were not mere bits of flotsam adrift on random currents. I believe they were chosen for their genius and gifts to come here. They were valorous in their navigation of the stars. They won this rare place where they would cultivate their understanding of the workings of the universe... here for thousands of years before less enlightened intruders would stumble upon this sacred and unique paradise. Brudda IZ was so revered because he could bridge the understanding of this sacredness to the world without aggression, maintaining a musical genius special to these islands.
