Messi Breaks Another All-Time Record Lionel Messi Breaks Another All-Time Record Jan 26, 2015 1 Spanish La Liga FC Barcelona Lionel Messi Neymar FC Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has broken another all-time record originally set by Spanish legend, Telmo Zarra. The Argentine scored his 77th La Liga brace during Barcelona’s 6-0 rout at Elche, surpassing Zarra’s record of 76. Messi’s long-standing rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, sits far behind with only 57. The 27-year-old scored goals number 20 and 21 of his tally this season, which means he has scored at least 20 goals for the seventh consecutive season. Overall, the Argentine has now scored 430 goals and assisted another 169 in 550 games for the Blaugrana, meaning he has been involved in 599 goals for his side. Since reportedly falling out with Luis Enrique, Messi has scored eight goals in five games, while Ronaldo only scored three goals over the same period. Apart from Messi’s recurring vomiting problem, he looks as sharp as ever and it seems that he is comfortable being played on the right wing. Messi’s teammate, Neymar, has also been in flourishing form this season, scoring a brace of his own against Elche to take his tally to 14 goals for the season so far. While Neymar and Messi both scored two and assisted the remaining goals, the stuttering Luis Suarez was rested for the match. Do you think Lionel Messi is back to his best?
