Met and heard Kiren Rijiju MoS Home Affairs for the first time. Great clarity of thought and very articulate. He said since MPs from NE dont usually speak in Parliament during the last term he was MP (and BJP was in the Opposition) he decided to raise six questions on different issues on the same day. They ranged from Power to Education etc.so much so that reporters came and asked him how he could raise so many questions on a single day. Rijiju said Maharashtra has 48 MPs so if half of them dont speak the other half will speak. Similar is the case with UP which has 80 MPs. But from Arunachal Pradesh we have only 2 MPs. If one does not speak the other MUST speak or the state will be unrepresented in Parliament. True parliamentarian and spoke in chaste Hindi. Rijiju said if the NE states are undeveloped it is the failure of local politicians and a crisis of leadership in the states. Delhi cannot be blamed for the lapses of the state governments. Very well said indeed! Also very gracious of him to fly to Mumbai just to be present at the function and then fly back to Delhi the same evening.
