Metanoia Arthopaedic: Ice-Doctrines – Variations on Nazi Rhetoric Zoltán Perovics: Collection of Useless Texts – for the newer variation of Ice-Doctrines. What’s the fuss in the corner? We confront with our past, present and with ourselves since the mustard seeds of insanity might have moved mountains, and since that which enlightens, broadens, completes and makes us more just might also serve to improve our narrower or broader environments. Apparent brainwork, the practice of exclusion for instance, represents itself as obligatory, infallible, and impeccable – as the conscience of our homeland. To deceive the sense of recognition always equals to restriction, closure, conflict and hostility, and generates hate. You need not speculate much about the proverbial beam in the eye; for the one who has it possesses some “promise of tomorrow”, too; in this über-attitude there circulate nicely those officially registered, handsome little hibernating glorias. Much of the texts of our performance were borrowed from internet comments. These testimonies of our times are juxtaposed with archive materials; it is evident that what these discourses sanction is the same that they evoke, and what they deem pursuable is just what they attract. We tried to follow the irrational atmosphere during the construction in which the emotional force fields behind the discourses and the archive texts informing present-day rhetoric respond to each other. We did not strive for completeness, however, as we wish to keep an open dramaturgy, in order to integrate further texts and comments for upcoming performances. Ice-Doctrines is not a linear story, and should not be read thus. It is rather an experiment with some original and mutant variations to highlight some splinters of insanity that in their impersonal positions misinterpret historical catastrophes. What remains of catharsis if we forget about the humble facts that in our homeland the house arrest and humiliation of Immánuel Löw (who is still not rehabilitated) provided the pretext to introduce numerus clausus, and that the following Anti-Jewish laws and decrees prepared the way for the “final solution” step by step. The segregation, ghettoization and deportation after the German occupation of Hungary was helped by Hungarian authorities, police and gendarme forces with such rapidity that their incomparable “sedulity” in the history of the holocaust surprised even Eichmann. It is needless to speculate posteriorly that what is the fruit of evoking such stories of the past. The fuss is here!
