Metaphor is the generative force--that is, the power of a phrase, - TopicsExpress

Metaphor is the generative force--that is, the power of a phrase, a book, a character, or a history to unify and invest with meaning a variety of attitudes or experiences. Thus, Athens becomes a metaphor of intellectual excellence, wherever we find it; Hamlet, a metaphor of brooding indecisiveness; Alices wanderings, a metaphor of a search for order in a world of semantic nonsense. ~Northrop Frye So then the term Christian Rap becomes a metaphor for sub par rap skills and lackluster music. To deny the label is not to deny Christ as some may think; Rather it is to deny mediocrity. If you fail to see this, then you are fighting shadows and phantoms. Your argument is built against a nonexistent counter-argument, for you think you are defending Christianity, when in reality you are defending you personal feelings about what to label a style of music that predates the existence of said label. Bringing up the history of Hip-Hop, the words of KRS-One, and the perception of the culture surrounding it, is nothing but various straw man arguments that bear no relevance to the content of the music or to the artist who infuses that content into the art form. These church folks who condemn Lecrae and other CHH artists have decided to wage a foolish culture war against the church itself. Meanwhile our society slips deeper into paganism, which they have managed to make a mandatory part of our public school curriculum, and the standard in our colleges and universities. Christianity is being attacked on many fronts, yet we have decided to fight internal wars over nonsense rather than defend the faith. You are cowards in my opinion, so I suggest you shut up, sit down, button up, and get your mind right, then go fight a real fight.
