Method Participants The participants in the study were students enrolled in PSCY 1F90, at Brock University. There were 1121 students who participated in the completion of Session 1 data. Measures Participants took part in an ITA Test. An ITA Test measures implicit beliefs and attitudes. It also looks into automatic associations that the brain makes without knowing. Procedure In Session 1, the students were split up into nine groups, so of which the groups were given scenarios, while the other group was simply a control group, which consisted of the majority of the participants. This task was completed to decrease the implicit bias. The 8 groups that had the different scenarios given, were told to respond on the IAT, fake unprejudiced, while the control group was simply asked to only complete the IAT. Participants were to sign a consent form, which included a brief description of the gender and age. Control groups were picked upon random. Results The results of this experiment display that the control group has the highest mean of 0.54. The Vivid Countersterotypic Scenario with a mean of 0.22. Shifting Group Boundaries Through a Dodgeball Competition with a mean of 0.43. Shifting Group Boundaries Under Threat with a mean of 0.42. Practicing an IAT with Counterstereotypical with a mean of 0.4. Evaluate Conditioning with a Categorization Task with a mean of 0.46. Evaluate Conditioning with the GO/NO-GO Association Task with a mean of 0.31. Priming Multiculturalism with a mean of 0.39. Setting Implementation Intentions with a mean of 0.37, and Faking the IAT with a mean of 0.06. The group that participated in Evaluate Conditioning with a Categorization Task has the second highest mean, with a mean of 0.45. This shows that this condition for the group that participated in it were almost at the control groups level. Faking the IAT has the lowest mean with a mean 0.06. This shows that Faking the IAT had the lowest turn out of reducing implicit prejudice. The results show that the reducing of implicit prejudice was not effective, due to the control group having the highest mean.
