Methyl Bromide works quite well for its intended purpose, and Its slow demise without a good replacement is really hurting production agriculture. Biological nuclear bomb; not hardly. Renders the soil lifeless; methyl Bromide is actually degraded over a relatively short time by methanotrophic bacteria in the soil (if it truly rendered the soil lifeless, there would be no need for repeat treatments to kill pathogens, weed seeds, etc., but yes, there is need for repeat treatments.) So, of course it does kill weeds, invertebrates, and many other organisms. Thats its job after all....
