Metro One extends trial run of VAG Metro to Airport Stn Tuesday, June 04, 2013 By Prashant Hamine The Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL) yesterday conducted a second trial run of the Metro Rail between Versova to Airport Road station on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro corridor. The trial run saw the Metro run over the cable-stayed bridge on the Western Express Highway in Andheri East. Sources disclosed that the trial run covered a distance of 7 Kms. It may be recalled that on May 1, Maharashtra Day, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had flagged off the first trial run of 3 Kms of the Metro between Versova to Azad Nagar stations. More such trial runs are in the offing before the line is commissioned later in the year. Meanwhile, sources in the Chief Ministers office disclosed that the inauguration of the much awaited Eastern Freeway could take place anywhere between June 6 to June 8. The Chief Minister is in New Delhi till the middle of the week and is expected to return to Mumbai on June 5. Moreover, sources added, there is no formal request from the MMRDA to the Chief Minister’s office seeking approval for the inauguration.
