MetroNews Morning Headlines: Three men are being held in the Southwestern Virginia Regional Jail today -- all charged with brutally beating a man during a Saturday night fight in Bluefield, Virginia. The victim was being treated at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Investigators with the state Fire Marshals Office say the Saturday night fire that killed a St. Albans woman was an accident and likely had been burning for a while before it was discovered. They say there were NO smoke alarms in that home. Investigators identify the woman killed as Connie Marino, 65. State lawmakers are scheduled to receive a report today from the State Water Commission that was formed after the January 9th Freedom Industries chemical spill on the Elk River. Tap water was contaminated in parts of nine counties. Gianato says state law requires each water utility to develop source water protection plans -- basically, plans for water emergencies. A Silver Alert issued this weekend for a Harrison County man has been canceled. State Police say 86-year old Marion McCullough was found on Sunday afternoon. Hed last been seen Saturday in Wallace. About 450 of Marshall Universitys more than 1,000 December graduates were part of Sundays Winter Commencement Ceremony in Huntington. Doctor Judith Silver, who taught math at Marshall for 30 years before retiring in the Spring, was the Keynote Speaker for that graduation event at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena. She told the graduates to learn from their mistakes and never make excuses.
