MetroNews Morning News Headlines: A former student at Tygarts Valley High School in Randolph County will be eligible for parole in ten years after pleading guilty Tuesday to second degree murder for the 2012 stabbing death of one of his classmates before a football game. Thomas Vas, 19,of Dailey entered that plea and was sentenced to 30 years on what would have been the first day of testimony in his murder trial. In a statement, Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Parker says, considering the facts of the case, he believes justice has been served. Were learning more about the Monongalia County man who shot and killed four people Monday before taking his own life. Court records show 39-year old Jody Lee Hunt of Westover had served prison time in Virginia for abducting an ex-girlfriend in Winchester in 1999 AND here in West Virginia for wanton endangerment with a firearm in 2001. Hunt called 911 in Monongalia County Monday before he shot himself off Route 19 in the Everettville area. Funeral arrangements are being finalized for the four people killed. One of those victims Doug Brady, 45, the operator of Dougs Towing in Westover. Hunt had operated J&J Towing, also in Westover. Monongalia County Sheriff Al Kisner says Hunt may have had a business dispute with Brady. Investigators also confirm Sharon Berkshire, 38, of Westover was Hunts ex-girlfriend and Michael Frum, 28, of Maidsville, who was also killed, was her current boyfriend. Hunts cousin, the fourth victim, Jody Taylor, 43, may have also been involved with Berkshire at one point. The states tax collections are up -- coming in about $30 million ahead of estimates for the month of November. State Revenue Secretary Bob Kiss is remaining cautious, though. Any downshift in energy prices, he says, could affect the numbers. Sounds of the season echoed through the State Capitol last night as several musical groups performing for the Annual Joyful Night Celebration. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin hosted the event with First Lady Joanne Tomblin. Military members, first responders and teachers were recognized during the event.
