MetroNews Morning News Headlines: A subsidiary of ExxonMobil will pay a fine of more than $2 Million, and spend even more than that cleaning up polluted waterways near eight Marcellus shale gas drilling operations in Northern West Virginia -- sites in Upshur, Harrison and Marion counties. Its part of a consent agreement between the Environmental Protection Agency and XTO Energy, Incorporated announced Monday. Nearly two dozen people are facing charges connected to a multistate dog-fighting ring that reportedly involved a compound in West Virginia. After a yearlong investigation, a Baltimore Grand Jury recently indicted 22 people on charges of animal cruelty, dog fighting and conspiracy. More than 200 dogs are now in shelters. In addition to Baltimore and West Virginia, that alleged dog-fighting ring also stretched into New York and Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The site of the childhood home of West Virginias 24th Governor, William Marland, is in ashes today in Wyoming County. A fire ripped through the Glen Rogers home on Monday. Firefighters fought the flames for hours, but ran out of water -- at one point -- during their efforts to put out that fire. Three dogs were killed. In Berkeley County, a Martinsburg man is charged today with trying to steal the identities of dead people. State Police say 42-year old Jacob Gideon Schaff was making fake IDS in his home. Hes now being held in the Eastern Regional Jail. A Secret Santa arrived at the Princeton State Police Detachment Monday. A man, who did not give his name, told First Sergeant M.R. Crowder he wanted to be Secret Santa. He took out ten 100 dollar bills and asked the troopers to make traffic stops in Mercer County and give the money to the drivers. He asked troopers to stop motorists who looked like they needed the money. Thats exactly what they did.
