MetroNews Morning News Headlines: Big trucks will stay on the roads in Downtown Morgantown now that a Kanawha County Circuit Judge has struck down a city ban that was supposed to take effect at the start of this month. The judge called that ban unenforceable. But Morgantown Mayor Jenny Selin tells MetroNews Affiliate WAJR-AM there are other possible routes, around the city, for those trucks. Morgantowns ban would have applied to trucks exceeding 26 thousand pounds gross weight with three or more axles. Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Environmental Protection Agency will be in Charleston later today -- joining U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin to announce whats being called a development in the federal investigation into Januarys Freedom Industries chemical spill on the Elk River. The federal investigation was launched soon after the spill of MCHM contaminated tap water in parts of nine West Virginia counties. Sales taxes will be going up in parts of West Virginia in the New Year. In Wheeling, City Council members have given final approval to a half percent increase, one that would take the total sales tax in Wheeling to one percent. In Parkersburg, city officials signed off on a one percent municipal sales tax last night as well. Game Day comes in less than two weeks for West Virginia University -- with the Mountaineers set to take on Texas A&M in the Liberty Bowl. Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs Matt Wells says WVU has sold about 35 hundred bowl game tickets so far. Kickoff for the Liberty Bowl is set for 2 p.m. on Monday, December 29th in Memphis.
