MetroNews Morning News Headlines: The names of two West Virginia firefighters who died while responding to emergencies in 2013 are among the 107 firefighters -- killed in the line of duty nationwide -- whose names were added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial on Sunday. West Virginians added to the Memorial Charlie Pierson,76, of the Southern Jackson County VFD. He died in December of 2013 on the way to an accident. Rev. John Appleton, 62,of the Malden VFD collapsed and died at the scene of a mobile home fire in June of 2013. An ATV and a car collided on Route 61 in Fayette County Sunday evening. One person is in stable condition at Raleigh General Hospital. It happened near the Oak Hill Sewer Plant around 8:30. The Fayette County Sheriffs Dept is investigating. West Virginians are wearing their seat belts. According to a Washington Post poll seat belt use in the Mountain State has gone from just 52 percent in 2001 to 82 percent in 2013.The number of vehicle related deaths has also dropped since 2001 from 411 people to 332 last year. Marshall Universitys Thundering Herd has cracked the top 25 for the first time in more than a decade. The Amway coaches poll has Marshall at number 24 and Number 25 in the AP poll. That after another big win on Saturday in Huntington against Middle Tennessee State University 49-24. Marshall remains undefeated on the season.
