‘Metropolis’ hoarding falls: One killed, 2 techies injured HYDERABAD: Sheer negligence on the part of civic officials resulted in the death of a housekeeping executive and injuries to two software engineers at Gachibowli on Sunday. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which hosted the Metropolis World Congress last week, decked up the city with special lighting and put up huge hoardings at junctions to welcome delegates for the meet. As civic officials were relaxing after a hectic week, a hoarding set up by GHMC for the metropolis crashed on two bikes on Raheja circle-Old Bombay highway stretch on Sunday morning. The victim was identified as Pruthvisena Reddy, 28, a housekeeping supervisor of Hitachi company in Nanakramguda. The injured were Venkateswar Rao and Ravi Prasad, software engineers. The mishap occurred at 11 am near M Hotel on Raheja Mindspace Circle-Old Bombay Highway road. Though the Metropolis meeting concluded on Friday, the civic officials failed to remove hoardings despite warning of cyclone Hudhud. Due to a sudden gust of wind, the hording collapsed on the road. The hoarding crashed on two bikes heading towards Raheja circle. Pruthvisena Reddy travelling on a bike to his house in Nizampet died on the spot due to a severe head injury, while Venkateswar Rao and Ravi, who were going to Madhapur after attending a job interview in Gachibowli suffered injuries, Raidurgam inspector Ch Srikanth said. Police registered a case against GHMC officials under sections 304-A (Causing death by rash or negligent act) and 337 (An act which endangers human life) of the IPC.
