Metuchen has two ways of developing; We can either grow the tax base (more people paying income tax which equates to more public service via. Public works, police, fire, town boards etc..,) or we grow our existing town base (less residential development, more revitalization, more residential/commercial planning, more parking for outsiders, better commercial licensing and zoning, out own of town commercial attractions, and building a stronger Metuchen out of Metuchen residents). Many would have you believe the only way to develop this town is by increasing the tax base and I argue otherwise. Id rather see franchises in town and the community pay less taxes than see us follow this trend towards failure. Please respond with your ideas and suggestions. Lets make a forum for positive change!!!
