Mexican attorney general Jesus Murrillo Karam said on Friday that the 43 missing students were likely executed and burned for hours in a dump near the town where they disappeared. They have been missing since a September police ambush in Iguala, Guerrero; and were suspected of being killed by drug cartel executioners in neighboring town of Cocula. Testimonies came from suspects in custody, claiming the students from Ayotzinapa Normal School were allegedly delivered by the police in an environment of suspicion and narco-trafficking. This apparent massacre has shaken a nation where, at least, 80,000 people have died in the ongoing drug wars and, at least, 20,000 are called missing since a former president sent military units to the street in December 2006, to deal with the violent, terror-ridden situation.
