Although regular and reliable, ferry transport involves a lot of delays, so factor that in your itinerary. Public transport boats from Binangonan leave at 0600 and 0830 H although you can make special arrangements for P1500 (in my experience, this is actually a negotiable rate). The actual trip takes 1-1.5 hours. At Brgy. Janosa you can make the barangay hall your temporary base; the officials are friendly. There is now a P20 registration fee. It is advisable to take a guide because there are numerous trail variations; as locals use these as well in the harvest of bamboo, among other activities. Take note that Mt. Tagapo is not a popular climb destination. The last regular trip from Brgy. Janosa on weekends is at 1400H, but it is the best to double check with the locals on your way to the island.
