MiLord Roy https://facebook/milord.roy?fref=ufi To all those who think the cops are needed, ask yourself one question, Why have there been no massive strikes by cops since the 1970s? Well, an editorial I took the time to type into my then IBM XT computer entitled Crime Exists Because Society Tolerates It really brings home the point: At a class I took a few weeks ago, Massad Ayoob talked, briefly, about the Albuquerque, NM police strike in the early 1970s. The police walked off the job, expecting the scumbags to go on a crime spree, with the resulting carnage forcing the people to cave in to their demands. Instead, crime dropped to ZERO *immediately*. No robberies, no rapes, no home invasions. Eventually, the cops went back to work, very puzzled and unsatisfied with the results of their strike. And crime came back. And the cops asked the scumbags, when they caught them, why did you make us look so bad? The answer was, hey, man, those people dont know THE RULES! The criminal would look at a family having a little picnic in their backyard, Winchester 94 loaded and leaning against the table. Down the block, an elderly couple taking a stroll, BOTH packing pistols on their hips. People in their houses, shotguns next to them on the couch as they watched TV. And every single one of them ready to blow a huge gaping hole in the scumbags if said scumbags tried anything. Offenses that the cops wouldnt be permitted to fire over were suddenly death penalty offenses without benefit of trial. No air conditioned jail, no three free meals a day, no weight benches, no job training. The people didnt know they werent supposed to shoot if the scumbag was behaving in a not entirely scumbaggy manner. The criminals were absolutely terrified of the potential consequences of their actions. Conclusion: crime exists because society tolerates it. Michael A.
