Michael Anthony is a big fan of Rickenbacker basses. He used a customized 4001 in 1984 as one of his primary stage basses and on the Panama video. Weve been friends for over 20 years, since my best friend has been his bass tech since 1980. As a result I had the customized 4001 as my primary stage bass for years. He did ask for it back about 10 years ago. The picture of it hanging is in my office, next to the custom built Aria Pro 2 prototype that I got from him. For everyone who prefers not customized Rics, youll enjoy the rest. He has 2 of the 4005 models. He has a 6 string 4005, which never was produced for sale. He also has an 8 string version of the 4005. The Ric 4000 model was the third one made. Ive had the luxury of spending hours in his storage condominium playing these basses.
