Michael Bisping: Call out the damn champion! You get nothing from fighting me! If you took a poll to see which opponent most middleweights want to face inside the Octagon, Michael Bisping would likely be at the top of the list. Thats because The Count has been called out by just about everyone in the 185-pound weight class at one time or another. Whether its because they feel the brash Brit is an easy out -- which hes proven time and again hes not -- or whether they think their stock will rise with a win over a star as big as Bisping, there isnt a shortage of reasons for wanting to fight The Count. And Bisping, for one, doesnt understand why hes on everyones hit list, seeing as how he isnt the champion. Which is the person he -- and everyone else -- should be wanting to fight if given the chance. He explained his stance during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour: What can I say, Ive been around a long time, and listen, Im never shy to say whats on my mind. Sometimes, I piss people off and they want to fight me for that reason. Other times people want to fight me because Ive been around the UFC for a long, long time and they think theyll get a bit of recognition from that. Other times they just want to climb the ladder and think Im the logical next match up. But, for those people that call me out, I never understand it. Listen, when I beat Tim Kennedy, Im calling out Chris Weidman, or the winner of Machida vs. Weidman. I want to fight the champion, I never understood why you call out the No. 4 guy. You know what I mean? If youre in that position, why call out the No. 4 guy? Call out the damn champion. You dont get anything from fighting me, you aint going to get the belt. I want the belt, I dont want a big payday and the main event and maybe a few more Twitter followers. I want to be the world champion. Tim Kennedy was the winner of the Bisping sweepstakes as he was booked to face the talented middleweight in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF: Nations Finale on April 16, 2014. Should Bisping come out the victor, he has every intention of asking for a title fight that has eluded him his entire UFC career against the winner of the UFC 173 championship fight between middleweight kingpin Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida, which goes down in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 24, 2014. But does winning two straight warrant a title shot? Maybe. That is if Vitor Belfort -- the next guy in line -- cant get his testosterone levels in check in order to comply with the new rules.
